Prioritising personal progression and learner wellbeing

It’s our first week back after half term and we are already halfway through the year – no, we can’t believe it either!

It’s been a fantastic week full of learning and fun. Some learners have been continuing their work experience placements at both St Vincent’s Charity and Kirkstall Valley Development Trust. We are really thankful to colleagues at both organisations for supporting our learners to access high-quality work experience placements.

On Tuesday we all celebrated Shrove Tuesday, or Pancake Day. Learners loved getting involved flipping pancakes, as well as eating them with plenty of chocolate spread.

Learners have enjoyed a trip to the Royal Armouries this week to learn about military history.

Staff took part in CPD this week on Talking Mats. This is already having a huge impact on learners and is being embedded throughout the college day.

In between all of that, we’ve managed to find time to work on our communication, choice-making, gardening enterprise, learning about the dangers or smoking and drinking alcohol, MATP activities and much, much more.
