Principal’s Welcome

A Word from our CEO,
Beckie Loosemore:

I am delighted to welcome you to our College website. On behalf of all our staff and students at Future Horizons, I hope that you enjoy looking at and discovering what we can offer you. You can learn about our courses and the support we can give you as you develop your skills, explore new experiences and opportunities, and make new friends.

Our students are at the heart of our college and as a team we are passionate in supporting you to become your best selves, make your own choices and learn the skills you need to achieve your goals in life beyond college.

Who we are?

We are a specialist post-19 provision for adults aged 19-30 with complex learning and communication needs. Our vision is to provide a personalised and holistic curriculum that enables each of our young people to prepare themselves for the next stage of their life.

We do this by maximising opportunities for meaningful communication, developing life skills in a way that is appropriate and personalised to each learner and within our culture of believing and supporting our young people to make their mark on society. Life for people with learning disabilities should be one of endless possibility, enjoyable and fun despite the bumps along the way but most importantly, in their own way and time and shared as part of part of a wider and supportive community.

Our College provision provides a structured programme of study, through which learners are able to achieve their own personal goals through a step-based course. Our staff team support all learners to make progress at the pace that is right for them and focusing on the goals that are important to them, so that when they leave us, they are ready and prepared for the next stage of their journey.

Our Day Opportunity provision provides learners who have left formal education the opportunity to continue practising key communication and life skills whilst supporting them to build up a programme of activities which can lead to meaningful and enjoyable adult lives.

It is my absolute pleasure to lead Future Horizons into this next stage of its journey and to support our staff and learners to achieve the absolute highest quality of provision – one where each person is supported and valued for who they are to become the best that they can be.
