Lifeskills
Our Life Skills Programme supports young people with varying communication needs who are developing the social communication and independent living skills needed for a happy, meaningful adult life. Each learner follows a structured, engaging curriculum shaped around the individual skills they need for their future, helping them confidently take their next steps beyond Future Horizons.
Learning takes place in small groups, offering a broad range of opportunities that promote independence, communication, wellbeing, and community inclusion. Timetables blend College-based sessions with regular community experiences.
The curriculum focuses on Preparation for Adulthood and each learner’s EHCP outcomes, covering communication and friendships, wellbeing and relationships, Independent Living Skills, and Intensive Interaction. Learners engage in practical and purposeful activities such as cooking, daily living tasks, teamwork, vocational and enterprise projects, and communication-focused sessions that help them express their personal needs, wishes, and choices.
Additional therapies are available based on individual need, ensuring each young person receives holistic, tailored support.
Progress is carefully tracked using Databridge, with parents and carers able to view updates and achievements through their secure portal.
The Life Skills Programme equips every young person with the confidence, independence and practical skills they need to access a rich, purposeful adult life—one where they can participate in their community, communicate effectively and enjoy a full and happy future.
